International connections & Journalism

Through the years I had the oppertunity to visit many countries seeing the dog shows and meeting several handlers and breeders. I always thought its one of the main aspects of a good handler to have good connections and friendships all over the world, so you are always able to see the quality of the standards in other nations - and of course to get experience in all the parts you have to know as a handler.
So as a results of that I always tried to find new contact persons or organisations, in Germany as well as in other countries, which I could identify with my interests. I’m actually member of the Owner Handler Association of America (OHA) as well as of the Young Kennel Club of England (YKC). I realised that its pretty good to have that friendly and useful contact to others, learning from them as well as teaching them.

Another part of my working with dogs and all the parts of connections with handlers, breeders and owners is the “Dog Journalism”. I just started a few years ago with a small report of my career in our german magazine of the terrier association. Through the good feedback and many people who supported me, I began to write more and more acticles, published in several magazines as well as in the worldwide-web. I covered several important title shows e.g. the Crufts Dog Show or the Westminster KC Show in New York City as a recognised member of the press. I’m official member of the German Press Association and since february 2010 a proud member of the Dog Writer Association of America (DWAA). Furthermore I’m dog show correspondent of the “German Westiemagazine Online”.

Another part of my commitment is the improvement of the Showhandling in Germany. Since a few years we have a showhandling club in Germany named the “IG Showhandling e.V”, assisting the juniors and seniors which are interested in the correct way of handling. I’m board member and delegate for puplic relations of this club.
We are still working to improve the quality of the handling competitions and we’re offering handling trainings several times a year. If you’re interested in our work, don’t hesitate to contact us (have a look on the link list).
